Jynea Baldevarona of CPU gets the Best Student Paper award at an International Journalism and MassCom conference in Singapore.
A student of Central Philippine University (CPU) in Jaro, Iloilo City recently won the Best Student Paper award in the 7th International Conference on Journalism and Mass Communication (JMCOmm 2018) in Singapore.
Jynea Baldevarona, who is currently taking up her Master’s degree on English Language and Literature in CPU, presented her research paper entitled “The Unique Features of President Rodrigo Duterte’s Public Statements: An Assessment.”
Equipped with effective communication and leadership skills, she was able to win one of the awards given in the annual conference held at Hotel Fort Canning, Singapore this October 22-23, 2018.
Baldevarona graduated as Cum Laude in Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication/Media Studies.
She was also a former President of CPU Masscom Circle, and founded the first film festival of the University, in association with the Western Visayas Filmmakers Network and Cinekasimanwa.
According to their website, the JMComm Conference 2018 is a premiere Academic Research Conference for the presentation of new advances and research results in the fields of Journalism and Mass Communications. The conference brought together leading researchers and scientists in this domain of interest from around the world.
