Premier cybersecurity conference DECODE 2020 gathered around 3,000 Information Technology (IT) professionals and experts from around the country for a virtual conference last November 10-12.
DECODE is an annual event organized by Trend Micro Inc., a global leader in cybersecurity. It features renowned industry experts from different parts of the world to talk about threats in the digital sphere.
Empowering different industries
With the emerging threats in the digital landscape that cut across industries, DECODE 2020 highlighted topics relevant to different sectors of the community.
Aside from professionals from the tech industry, the event was also well-attended by IT representatives from other sectors such as banking, finance, insurance, business and professional services, and the government.
DECODE 2020 Learning sessions
Over 40 sessions were streamed during the three-day conference with keynote speeches, breakout sessions, and presentations about various latest global trends on Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Protection and Privacy, Cybercrime and Incident Response, among others.
Included in the roster of industry leaders who shared knowledge on the cyberthreat landscape were former White House cybersecurity adviser Melissa Hathaway, Philip Cassanova of SyCip Gorres Velayo & Co., Craig Jones of Interpol, and Martin Roesler, Myla Pilao, and Robert McArdle of Trend Micro.
Going virtual
This is the first time for the conference to be done virtually because of the restrictions brought by the pandemic.
First organized in 2017, DECODE was previously held in Manila with the goal to share to local technology professionals up-to-date information about cybersecurity and new technologies in order to empower them to secure the digital infrastructures of their organizations.
DECODE 2021
According to Trend Micro, IT enthusiasts should expect a bigger DECODE this year with virtual focused learnings spread throughout the year. There will also be hands-on labs and certification training programs which are scheduled to be released by early 2021.
The organizers are also looking at having a hybrid event that features both virtual and physical set-ups.
DECODE is a free conference that is open to all on a pre-registration basis. To know more about this, visit www.decodeph.com.
