It’s the time of the year again for the sweetest summer celebration as the province of Guimaras officially opened the Manggahan Festival 2018! Check out complete schedule of events below.
The beautiful island-province across Iloilo City is currently celebrating its 25th year of Guimaras Manggahan Festival, with boatload of exciting activities prepared for tourists and locals alike to enjoy.
The month-long celebration themed “Bugana: Celebrating the Silver Glory of Manggahan Festival” kicked off with a grand caravan around the province, and a “Patilaw sa Manggahan” exhibit which gave shoppers a sneak peek of what’s in store for its silver anniversary, at Robinsons Place Iloilo.
Patilaw exhibit which runs April 2-8 showed that Guimaras is more than just mangoes as it featured various food products such as crispy cashew nuts, peanuts, pastillas, ginger cookies, soya polvoron, dilis and more. Of course, mango-based snacks such as dried mango slices, mango tart, mango piaya, mango concentrate, mango jam, etc. are for sale at the exhibit.
The program featured performances from ‘Bagul’, the official mascot of Manggahan, and Hubon Mangunguma, Kasadyahan 2018 champion. Shoppers got to taste first-hand sweetest mango in the world as they were listed in for free as participants of crowd-pleasing Mango Eating Competition.
Officials from the Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Tourism and the provincial government were all in unison in inviting everyone to go to see and have a taste of Guimaras during this year’s Manggahan Festival.
