Ilonggos, here’s another thing that we should be proud of: Iloilo International Airport was given a Star Rating in the 2016-2017 Official Aviation Guide (OAG), On-Time Performance (OTP).
Iloilo airport, which is located in Cabatuan, bested even Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Seoul Incheon International Airport and Hongkong International Airport in rankings, placing 14th in the list of those who were awarded 1-star rating.
Aside from Iloilo airport, other Philippine airports such as NAIA, Bacolod, Davao, Tacloban, Laguindingan (CDO), Kalibo and Puerto Princesa also earned star ratings on OTP.
The OTP star rating is designed to benchmark against set criteria, defined by industry and flight status information experts. OTP is measured across the whole year based on 12 months’ rolling performance.
To achieve an OTP star rating, the world’s airlines and airports must meet two criteria: all airlines and airports must have a minimum of 600 operations a month (minimum of 2.5 million departed seats) and OAG must receive flight status information for no less than 80 percent of scheduled flights within a 12-month period.
According to OAG’s data, Iloilo International Airport has 15,624 operations annually, and it earned a 67.5 rating which is the highest out of 79 CAAP-managed airports in the Philippines.
The OAG is an air travel intelligence company based in United Kingdom. It provides digital information and applications to the world’s airlines, airports, government agencies and travel-related service companies. OAG is best known for its airline schedules database which holds future and historical flight details for more than 900 airlines and over 4,000 airports.
Another feather in the cap for Iloilo International Airport, also the 12th best Airport in Asia according to a travel website. Congratulations![With reports from DOTr]
